Mena Alexandra Suvari (born 13th February 1979) is an American actress, fashion designer and model. When she began her career as a model she soon began acting in guest roles on 1990's programs on television like Boy Meets World and High Incident. Her debut film role came on 1997's thriller Nowhere. The actress made her way to big roles through her appearances on American Beauty for which she was nominated for the BAFTA Award and American Pie both of which earned the attention of film critics. In the following years, she appeared with Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) with her American Pie co-star Jason Biggs as well as later, she played the lead role in the comedy film Sugar & Spice (2001). Her appearances were in the 2002 independent drama Spun as well as the 2004 action film Trauma. In 2004, she was a guest on HBO's drama Six Feet Under. She received nominations for the Screen Actors ' Guild Award 2005, as part of the Outstanding Ensemble. In 2008, she was cast in several films such as Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh as well as the movie adaptation of The Garden of Eden. Suvari has appeared in many magazine and blog posts like Vogue. She's the official Lancome model and appears on the advertisements printed for Lancome Paris Adaptive. She has been a patron and campaigner of the African Medical and Research Foundation which is an established organization that provides relief to Africa. Also, she is involved in women's empowerment issues as well as working with other organizations to support breast cancer awareness and an End Violence Against Women Campaign.
