Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28 in 1967. Julia Fiona Roberts is the 4th generation Roberts living in Atlanta. Her father was the first interest to theater. He performed on at the Emory University campus in 1952 as well as in various productions around Atlanta. In 1953, he enlisted in the Air Force and while stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a show with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, the couple got married and in 1956 their child Eric Anthony was born. Walter was enrolled in Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957, the couple were discharged from the air force and Walter started his education at Tulane. Walter joined Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio after they moved their family from Atlanta to Georgia's Decatur in the year 1960. Walter as well as Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning show on local television for children called Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964, a project that they funded themselves. They also created the six-year Actors and Writers Workshop later in the year. In 1965, they welcomed two new children: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
