
Thomas William Selleck is an American actor from America. His first big role was the role of a private detective Thomas Magnum in the television series Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988) and for which he was awarded five Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in the Drama Series, winning in 1985. In the series Blue Bloods, Selleck has starred as Frank Reagan, New York City Police Commissioner. Since 2005, he has been playing Jesse Stone, a troubled police chief from a small town in New York City. Also, he's been featured in nine television films which are based on Robert B. Parker novels. Selleck has also been featured in films in the role of Peter Mitchell, a bachelor architect, in Three Men and a Baby (1987), and Three Men and a Little Lady (90). From the time of Magnum, P.I., he has appeared in over 50 television roles and film, including films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Baseball, and Lassiter. He was a regular on television in characters as Monica Geller's love-interest Dr. Richard Burke on Friends and also as Lance White, the likeable and charming co-star on The Rockford Files, and as casino owner A.J. Cooper at Las Vegas. He also had a lead part in the TV western The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran as well as a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as an endorser in ads for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
